Position Overview

Ultimate Staffing is actively seeking a skilled Purchasing Supervisor to join their client's team in Sacramento, California. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to oversee daily purchasing operations, function as a Buyer, and provide both project and internal support. The Purchasing Supervisor will implement strategies to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, and pricing, ensuring a smooth and efficient procurement process.

Responsibilities

General Job Description: The Purchasing Supervisor will supervise a team of Buyers, ensuring that they provide a comprehensive procurement solution relative to their responsibilities. This role requires routine interaction with the team and internal customers, focusing on effective leadership and problem-solving.

  • Supervise a team of Buyers responsible for project or internal support functions.
  • Assist in recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and training of new team members.
  • Collaborate with Buyers daily to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Identify and offer solutions to any issues to the Purchasing Manager and/or Director.
  • Handle subcontract reviews, bond reviews, and redline review/negotiations.
  • Resolve billing disputes between Project Managers and suppliers, escalating when necessary.
  • Manage the process of mitigating delays and notifying suppliers of their cost responsibilities.
  • Maintain knowledge of market conditions related to pricing and product issues.
  • Update and maintain unit cost pricing database.
  • Identify areas for potential cost reduction and analyze pricing changes.
  • Track costs in unit measurement and evaluate market trends.
  • Develop and maintain reports to manage suppliers and staff.
  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or recognized equivalent.
  • 2 years of related work experience in materials and production field.
  • Knowledgeable in Supply Chain Management practices.
  • Proficient understanding of issuing subcontracts, HVAC Equipment, and other related areas.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize duties, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally in a team environment.
  • Strong business writing skills, including proper grammar and terminology.
  • Industry knowledge preferred but not required.
  • High customer service skills.
  • Ability to organize large amounts of information.
  • Goal-oriented and able to meet deadlines.

Monday to Friday, 1st shift

Additional Details

Salary range: $90,000 to $123,000 annually, with around 70% travel time required for this supervisory position.
